Minibus (D1)

Important Information

If you obtained your car driving licence before 1 January 1997, you can drive a minibus if:

• You are at least 18 years old.
• The minibus has a maximum of 17 seats, including the driver’s seat.
• It is not used for hire or reward.

However, if you want to drive a minibus with nine or more passenger seats for hire or reward, you will need a Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence. To get this, you must:

• Meet higher medical standards.
• Pass the theory tests, the reversing test and the driving test

CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) tests if driving for hire or reward:

• • CPC Theory Test – Tests your knowledge of driving regulations and safety.
  • CPC Module 4 Test – A practical safety demonstration test.

These licensing requirements particularly affect teachers, youth leaders, taxi drivers, and ambulance drivers.

About Our Minibus Driver Training Course

Our course is designed for drivers who want to upgrade their car licence to a Class D1 (minibus) licence. We provide structured, personalized training to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge to pass all required tests with confidence.

• On-Road Driving Tuition – Practical driving experience with a qualified ADS instructor.
• Driving Test – Scheduled at an official DVSA testing site on the final day of your course.

All training and tests are conducted using your vehicle.

Eligibility Requirements:

To enrol in our D1 minibus driver training course, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a full driving licence.
• Meet the necessary physical fitness standards.
